Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Conduct thorough assessments of pediatric patients, including medical history review, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for children requiring surgical intervention.
- Perform pediatric surgeries, including both elective and emergency procedures, with a focus on ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
- Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care to pediatric patients.
- Offer support and counseling to families of patients, explaining conditions, treatment options, and surgical procedures in an empathetic manner.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including pediatricians, pediatric anesthesiologists, nurses, and allied health professionals.
- Consult with other specialists to ensure comprehensive care for patients with complex conditions.
- Mentor and train junior medical staff, including residents and fellows, in pediatric surgery practices.
Research and Development:
- Participate in clinical research activities related to pediatric surgery, including case studies, trials, and innovations in surgical techniques.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in pediatric surgery and contribute to the development of protocols and best practices.
Administrative Duties:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with medical regulations and hospital policies.
- Contribute to the development and review of clinical guidelines and protocols.
- Provide expert opinions for case reviews and participate in hospital committees as required.
On-call Duties:
- Provide emergency surgical services, including on-call shifts as needed, for trauma cases, congenital malformations, and acute surgical conditions in pediatric patients.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
- Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Completion of a specialized residency in pediatric surgery.
- Board certification in Pediatric Surgery (or equivalent certification depending on the country).
Experience:
- At least 5 years of clinical experience in pediatric surgery.
- Demonstrated expertise in performing a wide range of pediatric surgical procedures.
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary team, particularly in a hospital or academic medical setting.
