Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Provide comprehensive care for pediatric patients with respiratory conditions.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of pulmonary diseases in children, including asthma, chronic lung disease, cystic fibrosis, and interstitial lung disease.
- Conduct thorough assessments, including history-taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement personalized treatment plans, including pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions.
- Manage inpatient and outpatient cases, including emergency consultations and follow-ups.
Clinical Expertise:
- Serve as a subject matter expert on pediatric respiratory diseases, offering guidance to clinical staff, junior physicians, and allied health professionals.
- Stay updated on the latest research and advancements in pediatric pulmonology.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of clinical protocols, guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including pediatricians, respiratory therapists, nurses, and other specialists, to deliver optimal care to patients.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their families, ensuring they understand diagnosis, treatment options, and ongoing care plans.
- Provide education and training to medical staff and trainees on pediatric pulmonology topics.
Research & Teaching (if applicable):
- Participate in and contribute to research in pediatric pulmonology.
- Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows in pediatric pulmonary medicine.
- Engage in continuous medical education and professional development activities.
Administrative Duties:
- Ensure timely documentation of patient interactions, including diagnostic assessments, treatment plans, and follow-up care.
- Participate in departmental meetings, case discussions, and quality assurance activities.
- Assist with the management and oversight of pulmonary clinics and respiratory care services.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Education:
- Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent).
- Completion of specialty training in Pediatric Pulmonology (or equivalent recognized qualification).
- Board certification or equivalent in Pediatric Pulmonology (preferred).
Experience:
- Proven experience in pediatric pulmonology, with a focus on diagnosis and management of respiratory diseases in children.
- At least 5 years of experience as a specialist or consultant in a clinical setting (preferably in a hospital or academic environment).
- Experience in working in multidisciplinary teams and mentoring junior staff is desirable.
