Position Title:Power Plant Supervisor / Shift In charge.


Reporting To:Engineer Power Plant.


Job Purpose:


The Power Plant Supervisor/Shift Incharge is responsible for overseeing the smooth, effective & efficient operations of 24/7 functional Co-generation Power plant, during the assigned shift, ensuring efficient power generation, equipment maintenance, and compliance with safety and environmental standards. The role involves managing plant personnel, troubleshooting operational issues, and optimizing performance to achieve production targets.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Supervise and manage power plant operations during the shift.
  • Responsible for the effective, efficient, and safe operations of Co-generation Power Plant and related auxiliaries & equipment to ensure reliable, uninterruptable service to users.
  • Monitor plant performance, equipment conditions, and system parameters.
  • Ensure smooth and safe startup, operation, and shutdown of plant systems.
  • Lead shift personnel, assign duties, and provide technical guidance.
  • Conduct inspections, identify issues, and coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and institutional policies.
  • Maintain operational logs, reports, and records of shift activities.
  • Respond to emergencies, troubleshoot faults, and implement corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively with management and other departments regarding plant status.
  • Train and mentor shift staff to improve performance and safety awareness.
  • Perform Off-campus gensets inspections, PPMs, and BDMs. Ensure safe work practices and maintain effective co-ordination with the end users and superiors.

Required Qualifications & Experience:


  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Experience:Minimum 8 years of experience in power plant operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
  • Technical Knowledge:Sound technical knowledge of larger rating Gas and Diesel Engine Generator along with its auxiliaries such as cooling towers, HT & LT water Systems, heat recovery systems.
  • Technical knowledge of MV (11KV) electrical system, operation of VCBs & MCC.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Familiarity with power generation systems, WHR boilers, generators, and control systems.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of safety, environmental, and operational standards (e.g., OSHA, NEPRA, ISO).
